爆料网 students have proudly been recognised by the National Shine School Media Awards for the third consecutive year.
A group of high-profile industry professionals including Hugh Dickerson from Google, Liz Hunt from the Daily Mail, and Terry Mansfield CBE from Hearst have shortlisted three of our students for awards: Annabel Cochrane, Anna Page, and Poppy Bell.
Annabel has been shortlisted for 鈥楴on-Fiction Writer of the Year鈥 for her compelling article on the human rights crisis in Nicaragua. The interview with Abigail Hernandez, a journalist actively working on the front line amidst the atrocities, shared her fights for the voice of her nation.
Anna has been shortlisted for 鈥楩iction Writer of the Year鈥 for her poem 鈥業nked鈥. Anna was in the student magazine鈥檚 Editorial/ Advisory Board and took part in a number of workshops that were organised by the Lead Editors, one of which focused on various means of freely expressing your identity. Anna鈥檚 poem cleverly and stylishly explores identity.
Poppy has been shortlisted for 鈥楶hotographer of the Year鈥. Poppy is a keen photographer, and she really rose to the challenge of creating inspirational images for this year鈥檚 edition of Dovecote.
Over 40 students have been involved in producing the magazine, cultivating the engagement of their peers, staff and the YSA.
Copies of the magazine, priced at 拢2, are available to buy through school. All profits made from this edition will be donated to 鈥楾he Junction Foundation鈥, which seeks to work with disadvantaged children through a number of different projects across Tees Valley.
The National Shine School Media Awards will take place in London on Monday 3rd July.
